I’m giving exams now, which means a lot more paperwork and a lot less interaction with my students, as well as the prospect of not seeing the underclassman until September and perhaps never seeing the seniors again. I harassed the seniors for their work ethic a lot this year, but they are really an incredibly nice bunch of kids whom I am going to miss, especially the group of them who spend time in the math lab. I assume at least one of them will probably never want to talk to me again after she graduates because of how I bugged her for her declining work ethic, after I assured her early this year that I would never do that. Once a teacher, always a teacher...

I am in the middle of the eating frenzy that I discussed on 6/4, and loving every calorie of it!

What I’m reading now: Best Short Novels 2006, an annual collection of mid-length science fiction that always contains 9 stories, of which a half-dozen are usually superb. Highly-recommended for lovers of “serious” science fiction (not fast-paced thrillers or action-adventures).

What I’m listening to: Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol.3, which is as good as the first two volumes and the numerous “Bootlegs” he has released over the years. While Dylan does coast his way through occasional albums, his various collections filled with his best stuff are all wonderful.
