There are only 7 teaching days left in the school year and, as usual, the end-of-the-year eating frenzy has begun. Thursday was the annual countywide Valedictorian-Salutatorian dinner, which is one of my favorite events each year since it is nice seeing the top two students in the school honored for their academic achievements–something which is rarer in education than it should be. Friday was the annual Iron Hills Conference Math League luncheon, which was actually a planning session for next year’s competitions but which also included–what else?–food!
Next week has two days of eating, Monday Night’s Target Teach celebration and Tuesday’s PTHEA Executive Committee dinner. The following week has a retirement banquet and a Math Dept barbecue. When exams begin on 6/14 there will be breakfast for the faculty every morning and two luncheons, all with food provided by faculty members (TANSTAAFL). By the time I leave for Italy on 6/25, I should be bulging already. Who knows what the fabled Italian food will do to me? ☺
