Monday night was the Target Teach grading session, after which we all went out for pizza to say farewell to the assistant superintendent who has been part of our group since the beginning (7 years ago already!) but who is retiring this year. Last night was her retirement dinner, at which 150 people showed up, including nearly every important person in the district from the past 20 years. I chatted with several old friends, which was nice.

Final exams began today, and my workload has decreased considerably since I have much smaller classes this year than last year, so my final grading is considerably less, as is the stress level. So I can already taste the beginnings of summer vacation! ☺

Currently Reading: The Virginia State Legislature has declared June 27, 2009 as Will F. Jenkins Day, a deserved honor for a man who, writing as Murray Leinster, was one of the true grandmasters of science fiction. Thus I am currently reading hiss excellent collection Med Ship about a traveling agent of the Medical Service who encounters more difficulties on most worlds than he expects. Very enjoyable reading. (BTW, this is one of the paperbacks I swapped for, which has reached a total of 13 books with 1 more on its way)

Currently listening: I have gotten 7 cds in swap so far, and I am listening to the two newest ones, Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA (which I had on vinyl until giving away my entire collection a few years ago) and Paul McCartney’s Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (which hasn’t grown on me yet after one listening, but sometimes Macca takes a few listens).
