The ducklings are safe now, but no longer at school. Following the advice of my friend Tom, I contacted the Raptor Trust which raises orphan birds on a preserve in the Great Swamp. They told me they would take the ducklings, and that I should contact the local Animal Control to transport them. I phoned them and a representative came immediately and spent over an hour chasing the ducklings across the courtyard while a group of us watched them run away from her in a pack. But at least the ducklings should be happier now among other birds, and will learn how to fly and live in the wild.
There are only 2 teaching days left before exams start. My Honors Algebra 2 classes began their Statistics presentations Friday and, as usual, they were enjoyable. I have a lot of end-of-year activities to attend, starting with a Target Teach grading session Monday, the assistant superintendent’s retirement reception Tuesday, and the Math Department barbecue Friday.
Yesterday was Mark’s 24th birthday. Time certainly does fly! I remember when Jean and I got married her father told us the next 40 years would fly by. We laughed then, but 30 years have indeed slipped right between our fingers without our realizing it.
