My students took the AP tests in Statistics and Calculus the past few days, so I feel as if a weight has been taken off my back. The rest of the year in those classes will be relatively stress-free compared to the past months when I was pushing those poor students as much as possible.
I have also reached the point in my Honors Algebra 2 classes where I can teach whichever topics I choose, so those classes are less stressful as well. The remaining 30 days or so should be almost relaxing to teach.
Do you know what one of the worst parts of teaching is? I teach so many students that it is impossible to remember all of them. So occasionally a student returns and greets me, but although I recognize them, I have absolutely no idea who they are. That happened today when a new substitute teacher took over for one of my teachers, and I knew immediately that she had been one of my honors students, but her name was lost in the great abyss of former students. It was somewhat embarrassing.
