Yesterday was the quarter mark of summer vacation. *sigh* I am having too much fun making my own schedule, writing, editing, reading, and taking time off whenever I feel like it. Yesterday, for example, Jean and I went directly from the YMCA to the pool where we relaxed for 2 hours. I read when I wasn’t in the water. ☺
I have three brothers who are avid sportsmen, so growing up for me consisted of as much playing sports as it did reading and writing. Golf is one of the sports we enjoyed, and I golfed when I was in college, and again for a few years–although not extensively–in the early 90s. One of the things I do not do in the summer is socialize much, and with retirement looming less than a half-dozen years away, it would be easy for me to get into a rut of being a hermit sitting home all the time. My brother David still golfs a lot, and he always asks me if I want to join him. This summer I decided that, for social reasons I should do so. So tomorrow I will try golfing 9 holes for the first time in several years, and see if I still know how to swing the club, haha. If I enjoy it as a social outing, perhaps I’ll take it up again.
