I’ve been busy writing the first 10 days of my summer vacation, which pleases me. Yesterday I posted VoP #116: Halcyon Days, and now I am finishing #116: The Passing Scene. Then I will start writing the first draft of a far-future story about a teacher, based on the death of Socrates. How pretentious, comparing a teacher to poor Socrates! ☺

Last night Mark, Kate, Jean and I went to the fireworks over Lake Hopatcong. We paid $5 to sit at the state park which gave us a good view of the fireworks. You can’t celebrate 4th of July without fireworks–although we are passing up the traditional barbecue in favor of lentil soup and homemade rye bread! *yummy*

Currently listening: After finishing listening to all the Kinks’ best-of collections (three sets cover their entire career–The Kink Kronikles, Celluloid Heroes, and Come Dancing), I’m working my way through Richard Thompson’s collections: The Best of Richard and Linda Thompson, Watching The Dark, and Action Packed cover his career. Great music is the best inspiration for writing!
