A lot of fun in the Math Lab the past two days, including visits from Kevin and Andy yesterday, and Michelle, Amy, Tino, Foram, Charles, Sneha, and Christina today. Plus lots of time spent with current students, especially the 2 Jessica’s and Sana. I will definitely miss so much interacting with students on a daily basis in the future, but I try not to think about it.
In many ways, Thanksgiving is the most important holiday of the entire year, because it is not restrictive by denomination or ethnic background, but gives everybody a chance to be thankful for all the good things in their lives. I have much to be thankful for, such as my family, my health, my students, and my interests (meaning books ☺).
I realized yesterday that I have gone on a *major* spending spree (by my standards, of course) the past two months, buying three cds (Bruce Springsteen’s The River, the Band’s Rock of Ages, and Banco’s Darwin!); 17 back issues of Worlds of IF; 5 books (Poul Anderson’s Polesotechnic League trilogy; Jack McDevitt’s Time Travelers Never Die, and Showcase Presents: Warlord); and the complete Nat’l Geographic on DVD. I don’t plan to buy anything else for a loooooooong time. ☺
