This will be a routine weekend, mostly taken up by my regular chores such as schoolwork, going to the YMCA, cooking, going to Shop-Rite, grading an AP Calculus test, and vacuuming. I must admit that the thought of retiring in June makes me anxious to get off such a rigid weekend school schedule and have more free time to do my personal interests.
So far this year my book and cd-buying have been much lower than in past years. My recent totals for each are:
1996-2008 average: 25.8 new books bought per year
2009 total: 12 books bought
2001-2008 average: 22.3 cds bought per year
2009 total: 15
I still have a fairly large percentage of books that are unread, approximately 325 out of a total of 1700 books or 19%. Since I currently read about 30 books per year (a total which should increase considerably next year), if I do not buy any new books it will still take me 10 years to complete my entire collection. But I consider all those books a wealth of riches, so I am certainly not complaining!
