This week I told my current and former students that I have decided to retire at the end of this school year, and the reaction has been amazing. Several former students have sent me really nice congratulatory emails which have made me feel really good. Current students have reacted with shock and disappointment, some begging me to reconsider, others actually crying in the Math Lab.

The most flattering comment of all though came from Eileen who told me that she feels like a legend is leaving the school. I guess it’s safe to say that at least some students think I was not too bad a teacher all those years.
