Less than one week to go in summer vacation and, as usual, I am not anxious to end the good life for the working life.☺ We are certainly keeping busy this last week though. Yesterday we had two fellow teachers over for lunch, so I made pizza, which came out really good (if I say so myself, hehe). In the evening we went to a Chinese buffet with Alan and Denise and 6 other people to celebrate Denise’s birthday.
Today two more teachers are coming for lunch, including our close friend Adrianne and her one-year old boy Jack. The last youngster who visited was intrigued by Tiger so much that he kept following her, wanting to touch her, but Tiger would have none of that! We’ll see how she gets along with Jack.
Currently listening: While I am not on the cutting edge of technology, I do get new gadgets eventually. My friend George gave me his spare ipod when we bought an updated model, so I have loaded it with greatest hits by many of my favorite rock groups (The Strawbs, Renaissance, the Kinks, Pink Floyd) and have been listening to it recently. While I doubt if I will ever go totally into downloaded music since I enjoy holding a cd in my hands, it is convenient and I can understand its popularity.
Currently reading: I have a large gap in my science fiction collection of very few Arthur C Clarke books, so this summer I bought one of his classic novels A Fall of Moondust. It is very enjoyable as a problem-solving novel, as a human interest story, and for Clarke’s love of space which infuses the novel with real sense of wonder. I recommend this novel highly.
