Graduation Day! As usual, this was both a joyous and a bittersweet occasion, since it is always sad seeing my students “leave the nest.” It was great talking with former students Winston, Amy and Sneha, as well as many current students, such as Mimi, Jason, Nick, Priscilla, Tino, Aisha and probably others I’ve forgotten already. I got some really nice farewell letters as well, which really made me happy knowing that, yes, I did do some good things for at least a few of them.
Graduation was followed by the faculty retirement banquet at which we celebrated a half-dozen retirees. None of the retirees wanted to speak, or have friends speak specifically about them, so I was assigned the task of speaking about both the retirees and a wrap-up of the year at PHS. I think it went all right, since people laughed at all the intended places and nobody seemed offended at my gentle jabs.
So now I have two days left to finish all the odds-and-ends of the school year as well as clean up the Math Lab and make it look presentable after a year of accumulating all types of junk. The next time I update this blog I’ll tell you what my summer plans are (and keep the date July 10th in mind! ☺)
