My back and left foot have been bothering me. Partly my back might be due to my sitting at the computer too much, rather than be on my feet walking as I usually am at school. The cause of my foot might be my orthotic needing to be refurbished, which was last done in January, 2006, which is not too long ago. I’ll have to see how my foot feels before I do anything about it.

We had a thunderstorm at 5:00am and Misty was sitting in the bathroom crying. It is ironic that she is such a predator she has virtually ridden the entire neighborhood of voles, moles, bunnies and chipmonks, but she is terrified of thunder and lightning. Tiger, on the other hand, is an incompetent predator but she has no qualms staying out in hurricanes.

Currently reading: The last novel in C.J. Cherryh’s 1st Foreigner trilogy, Inheritor. This is a very introspective look at a long human serving as an intermediary between the natives living on one continent and the human settlers living on a large island. Anybody who has the patience for Cherryh’s slow-pacing but enjoys culture-building would enjoy this trilogy.

I've always found C.J. Cherryh a fascinating person. She taught Latin in a high school originally, I think. And I enjoyed some of her early books. I read the first book of the Foreigner series and while I liked the setting and the story, it was entirely too slow for me to continue. But who am I to say. She sells very well and I never could find an agent for my behemoth of a novel. Wrote a couple of house name things but quit writing in '93 after some heart problems. Lost all my discipline. But you go, Bob. Get those three years of teaching out of the way and then retire and write.
