This Sunday is the March of Dimes walkathon (and isn’t it time they change their name to a more logical March of Dollars? ☺), and Jean, Mark, Kate, Drew and I will all be walking, so anybody who wishes to make a donation, feel free to approach me at school.

Ceil flew home to Utica today after being here for the past two weeks. She is almost the perfect houseguest, totally undemanding, and very helpful without ever getting in the way. Because she has no relatives except her son in Colorado, and Jean has no family except her brother in South Carolina, Ceil stays with us three times a year at Thanksgiving, Easter, and during the summer. She is quite an inspiration since even at 85 years old she is very spry and active, both physically and mentally. She shovels snow, mows her lawn, does all her routine household chores and shopping herself, and last year she even replaced her own bathroom floor. Plus she is a voracious reader, mostly but not exclusively of mysteries. If only we can be that good at 85!

One more week until the AP Calculus and Statistics tests are over and I can return to normal teaching again, thank heavens! This school year has been so pleasant overall that it is a bit sad to realize there are less than seven weeks until exams. I’m going to miss these classes a lot (about which I’m sure I’ll have more to say in June).
