I am not a big tv watcher, preferring to read or dabble online, but there are a few programs I do watch fairly regularly:
• Jeopardy! This is easily my favorite show, and I rarely miss it. Of course, my main goal when I watch it is showing up the contestants. Whenever I am chatting with a student online at 7:00, they know to let me leave in the middle of the conversation to watch Jeopardy!, lol.
• Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? This afternoon show coincides with our lunchtime, so we have been eating lunch in front of the tv, again matching wits with the contestants (and don’t think that I have not considered trying out for either of these two shows).
• The Weather Channel. This is the channel I put on every morning while I am doing my morning exercises. Not only do I like to know what to expect weather-wise in the day ahead, but I prefer watching their weather news around the country rather than other so-called news shows’ preoccupation with politics and celebrity gossip.
• Yankees baseball. I don’t actually “watch” this, but if there is a Yankee game at night, I will read with the tv on, and occasionally look up to see what is happening. I would estimate that I actually see about 5-10 minutes of an entire game.
And that’s it. No American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Glee, Lost, Friends, Seinfeld or any other popular shows of the past decade. They’re all a victim of too many books – too little time!
