Monday Jean and I cleared a tree which had fallen at the edge of the woods. Wednesday I unexpectedly found several poison ivy rashes on my left wrist, which grew a little bit worse Thursday, but has stayed the same ever since, and does not seem to be spreading. I’ve been spraying “Ivy-dry” on it three times a day, which has helped all the areas except one area on my left wrist which is fairly disgusting and is leaking today. It’s annoying, and hopefully will fade away soon.
I made my 190th friend on Facebook today, which is minimal compared to most people, but I only accept people I know personally and enjoy having as a friend. At a quick count, 127 of them are former students, while another 38 are sf fans. That leaves 25 miscellaneous friends and relatives.
Of course, of all these “friends,” how many do I actually have regular interactions with on Facebook? I would estimate two-to-three dozen students, a dozen fans, and a small handful of other people, which is less than 25% of the total. While it would be nice if everybody was more active, posting regular statuses, exchanging comments and messages, how much time would I then spend on Facebook which could be better spent writing? So I guess it’s a mixed blessing having a majority of FB friends who are nominal friends at best.
