Anybody I know who is retired insists that you get less work done after retirement than before it. I have always assumed that was due mostly to creeping laziness, and I am determined not to let that happen to me. After all, one of the main reasons I am retiring is to write more, not less!

However, this first week since school ended has not boded well for my long-term plans. Consider:

Saturday, 6/26, we spent most of the afternoon and evening at my niece’s graduation party.

Sunday, 6/27, we spent the afternoon and evening at a friend’s 60th birthday party.

Monday, 6/28, I spent half the morning at a regular dentist’s appointment, and half the afternoon having my hair cut.

Tuesday, 6/29, I accompanied Jean to the pool where I spent the afternoon reading and swimming.

Wednesday, 6/30, we spent three hours at the YMCA, then shopping, then I worked with Jean in the yard.

Five days gone by, and I have not even finished editing the June issue of VoP. *sigh* Check back with me in another month to see in what direction this retirement is really going...
