One afternoon this past week, a group of my of my AP Calculus seniors were gathered in the Math Lab, which they have been doing a lot recently after rarely coming there earlier in the school year except when they needed help. One of them commented that now they “automatically gravitate there,” which has become true for more and more students as the year progresses.

This has had me thinking about other former students who spent considerable time in the math lab year-by-year. The math department of another high school has the names of all its former teachers written on the wall of their office, and I realized that I should have kept some type of similar log of all the “faithful” math lab students over the years. If I went through all my grade books, I could probably remember which students they were, so perhaps I will begin such a list.
