March is going out like a gentle spring lamb, which hopefully bodes well for nice weather ahead. This looms as a very busy week of school, with 4 tests to give and grade, and late nights Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, but it will all be worthwhile because of no school on Good Friday and Spring Break the week afterwards!
Currently Reading: Since I let my subscriptions to all sf prozines lapse, I keep up reading short fiction via best-of-the-year anthologies and original anthologies. Last night at Barnes & Noble I bought The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction, which was released by a British publisher, so the book features mostly stories by acclaimed British sf writers who have not gotten much publicity here. I started the book last night with the Stephen Baxter story, of course, since he is one of my very favorite current writers. So far it’s been good reading.
Currently Listening: I’ve probably mentioned before that progressive rock is one of my favorite musical genres, especially the symphonic type, and even moreso when it is based on hard rock rather than soft, wimpy rock. No current band combines all that stuff better than Dream Theater, and their life three-cd set Live Scenes From New York is fabulous stuff.
