The media witch hunt reached its conclusion this week with most of the AP Gov students attending the Board of Education meeting and presenting their argument for democracy and free speech. The Board ultimately supported them, and articles in both area newspapers were generally positive and were accompanied by a picture of one student getting a standing ovation after his speech, which seemingly indicates the papers also came around to the school’s point of view.
Ironically, or justly, after the county freeholders–who had no right interfering in the issue at all–voted a resolution opposed to the school’s activity, mail to the school shifted from 6-1 opposed to largely pro-school. There is hope for the future of democracy!
As for the Big East tournament, let’s not discuss the Pirates’ disastrous first game, but instead my wife’s alma mater which has won three consecutive upsets by a total of 4 points and tonight play in the league championship game. It’s always good when at least one of us is pleased with the results.
My entire family started their Spring Breaks today, with only me needing to work next week. Oh, joy... ☺
