This is the longest I’ve ever gone between blog entries, and it is because I have been so incredibly busy with school work. The only free day I had was Saturday when Jean and I went to Van Cortland Park in the Bronx for Andy’s first cross-country meet of the season. It was his first race in nearly a year because of his foot injury, and he showed rust from the layoff, not being in top shape yet because he started training a month later than he wanted–first running extensively in July rather than in June–and tentativeness because of his foot. But he felt all right after the race, so it is good that he is finally healthy and apparently headed in the right direction.

I spent Sunday doing Statistics, and I was at school late all three days so far this week, getting home the latest Monday at 9:30 pm. *sigh* It did not take long for me to get into full-throttle workload at school! Fortunately I am off the next two days for Jewish New Year, so I will hopefully be able to finish a slew of chores I have to do, including grading 4 summer reading projects I collected Monday, grade today’s first A.P. Statistics test, write tests for three other classes–Calculus, AP Calculus, and Honors Algebra 3–write the first college recommendations for my seniors, and write a PTHEA Newsletter for next week’s district Rep Council meeting. It is an extremely important newsletter since we do not have a contract this year. So far the superintendent, who is the Board of Education negotiator, refuses to budge off a position which we find intolerable. My newsletter is the main conduit of information for the teachers, and it is my job to encourage them to stand up for their rights if we are to push these negotiations towards conclusion. I’ll probably have more to say about this in upcoming weeks.
