The first week of school is always the most tiring part of the school year. Yesterday I went to the YMCA after school where I was soooooo exhausted I only spent 24 minutes on the cross-trainer, then when I was writing on the computer last night I fell asleep in my chair!☺ No matter how I try to stay in shape during the summer, nothing can possibly prepare me for being on my feet 5 periods a day!
I really like the students in my classes so far, although since I have not given them are tests yet I have no idea if they will rise to the level I expect of them. My regular Calculus class has a lot of students from my Algebra 2 of two year’s ago, which was a wonderful class, so that bodes well. And, of course, my AP Statistics and AP Calculus have a lot of my former Honors Algebra 2 students, so I expect big things from them.
I was hoping to cut back on some of my extra-curricular activities this year, which is why I resigned as director of the Iron Hills Conference Math League and PHS math team. But I still have lots of other activities which eat away my free time, such as teaching Target Teach Parsippany, vice-president of the PTHEA, and advisor of the school newspaper and Asian Club. Combine all that with all the tutoring I do during the day, and all the schoolwork I do at home, and is it any wonder that I have absolutely no life from September through June?
It's a good thing I love teaching so much!
