To celebrate–or mourn–the end of summer, we always go to the pool with my brother’s family and eat supper there. Yesterday turned out to be a more ironic ending to the summer season than we anticipated though. It was hot and muggy when we arrived, so we decided to play soccer. While we were playing, it became overcast with dark rainclouds, and eventually we heard thunder in the distance. Shortly afterwards we saw lightning, so we stopped playing and returned to the pool. Almost immediately a thunderstorm began which we tried to wait out under the trees, but within minutes it was such a horrendous downpour that everybody was getting soaked. So we ran to our cars and drove home.
We did not give up our dinner though. When we all dried off, we met at Frank’s Pizza for a delicious Italian meal. Hey, food is more important than the pool or staying dry anyway! ☺
All of you returning to school this week: have a great year! I'll be discussing some of my activities here, and I'll welcome anybody else's experiences they might wish to share.
