This is the time of year when I am doing many school activities for the last time, but I try not to dwell on that, since it would be too depressing if I did. I’ve had my last AAC dance and game night, and my last ICC dance and show. Today was an annual scholarship luncheon for 4 deserving students, which was very enjoyable.

What I will definitely not miss though is all the garbage revolving around education both statewide and districtwide. I feel sorry for my students who are not graduating, as well as for my department who will have to soldier on without me there. But from a purely selfish standpoint, many teachers have been telling me how envious they are of my getting out now when most of them are as frustrated with what is happening to education as I am.
