This was a week of highs and lows at school, starting with spending Monday night grading Target Teach journals, then watching the morale of my department being totally destroyed (for reasons I can’t really state in public), but ending with an Asian-American Club dance which went really well, and where I got to chat with several current and former students. This is the last dance I will every attend, and while I will miss the kids a lot, dances have never been my favorite activity, so I will definitely not miss them specifically.

Currently listening: I enjoy discovering new bands, and recently I bought the acclaimed album Funeral by Arcade Fire and it was definitely as good as its reputation, highlighted by the great song “Wake Up.” I hope to buy their second album sometime soon.

Currently reading: Lately I have been reading books by my favorite all-time writers, including Clifford D. Simak’s collection Strangers in the Universe, C.J. Cherryh’s Merchanter-Alliance novel Finity’s End, and currently Roger Zelazny’s first collection Four For Tomorrow. The latter contains three of his finest novelettes, “The Graveyard Heart,” “The Doors of His Face, The Lamps of His Mouth,” and especially, the classic “A Rose for Ecclesiastes.” While I strongly recommend all of the three books, the latter is definitely must reading.
