Spending time helping students is what teaching is all about, and since I primarily teach honors students I probably get more pleasure working with my students than most teachers do. Yesterday afternoon I sat until 4:15 helping Monisha and Joy studying for this afternoon’s national AP Statistics exam. This afternoon I sat with Ela and Sharan studying for tomorrow morning’s AP Calculus BC exam. About 4:00 the Stat exam ended, so Monisha, Hanna, Sabrina, Joy and Mimi came to give me a rundown on it.
They might be under a lot of stress preparing for the AP tests, and admittedly this is a very stressful time for me as well, but I would not give it up for anything! Every year I am reminded why I bypassed the opportunity to become district math supervisor.
Currently reading: I normally do not enjoy mysteries, but Steven Saylor’s series of historical mysteries set in Rome during the time of Julius Caesar is a fabulous series of historical fiction which are only incidentally mysteries. Last Seen in Massilia was a great novel about the Roman seige of Missilia, highly recommended.
