There is nothing sadder than seeing somebody you care about going through difficult emotional times, when there is nothing you can do to help them. All you can possibly do is be there if they need a friendly ear or perhaps some advice, or even a pat on the back. But waiting helplessly for them to pull through is incredibly frustrating

I’ve never been a particularly optimistic person. Rather, I tend to combine cynicism with pessimism, a bad combination. At times I do try to be optimistic, but then I look at the sad state of the world, some of it caused by greed and selfishness, but some of it caused by our helplessness against the forces of nature and the world itself, and I wonder how humanity survived this long, and whether we have a chance of surviving much longer as a race. Neanderthals walked the Earth for a much longer time than we have so far, and I don’t see much chance of us outlasting their reign.
