This is the week of AP testing, so my students are a big berserk. I am more anxious than usual because how they do on the tests is somewhat of a reflection on my teaching ability. This is the first year I taught AP Calculus BC, after 20 years of teaching AB, so all my years of getting good scores–between 75-80% of my students generally get 5's on the test–mean nothing this year.

I am spending three nights late at school this week as well. Yesterday was our monthly Target Teach seminar. Wednesday is the annual National Honor Society induction, and since most of the inductees and current senior members either are my students now or were as sophomores, I enjoy going to the ceremony each year. Thursday is the semi-annual Morris Area Math Alliance workshop, and I am one of the presenters discussing “Writing in Mathematics.” Hopefully that talk will not bore too many teachers attending!

Is it weird that I miss AP testing? That material was so much easier to understand... high school students have it easy. ~_~

Anyway, past history will count for something... after all, the bulk of the exam (and the BC score) is AB content. Don't worry too much. :)
