Today was the end of the 3rd marking period, so I gave three tests, a quiz, and collected a Statistics activity the past few days, all of which need to be graded this weekend, as well as doing final grades. Somehow with all that activity I also need to do Ceil’s tax return before she leaves Wednesday–although I have not been able to get any tax forms online since the computer freezes whenever I reach the NY Division of Taxation website; isn’t that ironic?–plus do the inevitable Statistics Sunday morning. This should be an incredibly fun weekend!
What I’m Reading Now: I’ve been rereading some vintage Robert Silverberg novels from the late 1960s-early 1970s. He wrote the type of future history that really influenced me a lot as both a reader and a writer of science fiction, but I have read so little of his fiction in recent years that I forgot what a wonderful writer he was. I highly recommend Nightwings, one of the finest sf novels of the 1960s, as well as A Time of Changes. You can read a review of the former at my companion blog.
What I’m Listening To: Perhaps it is the side effect of reading classic sf because I am also listening to some classic rock and roll, Joe Jackson’s Night and Day and Bruce Springsteen’s The Ghost of Tom Joad–the latter in anticipation of his soon-to-be-released new album which is supposedly a similar folk-rock type of album.
