I haven’t been sick in about three years, but that streak has come to an end. I have been fairly miserable the past 10 days, and it does not show any signs of easing anytime soon. Damn, I’d forgotten how much I dislike viruses.

Which reminds me that we should go get flu shots soon, although I think it will be better to wait until I feel better first.

My list of Recommended Books that I would like to buy is huge, and recently I noticed that many of them are available real cheap on Ebay. Just what I need: more temptation to increase my numbers of unread books!

Since Jean and I are both teachers, we have spent our entire working lives watching our expenses and taking care to remain solvent. We know several people who are not teachers but who complain about the need for teachers to give back money to the state to help the tax situation. Ironically, those people earn so much more money than I ever did that they can routinely spend money on things I could not even dream of doing. I always believed that everybody is equal in America, but recently it has occurred to me that, in the words of George Orwell, some pigs are more equal than other pigs.
