There was an article in the news recently discussing the members of Congress who will be on the committee which will make budget cuts. All the Republicans on the committee want to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, while refusing to increase taxes on millionaires.

That combination is hard to grasp morally. They are willing to hurt the people who need the help most while protecting the people who do not. I understand why the Republicans feel that way though. Who do you think makes the bulk of the donations to Republicans’ campaign coffers? Big business and millionaires. So the politicians, in order to guarantee that they will continue to receive campaign contributions in the future, do everything they can to protect their donors, even if it means screwing the rest of the country in the process.

Here is a truism which I do not doubt at all, based on Sturgeon’s Law: 90% of all politicians are evil. They care about themselves exclusively, and become more and more corrupted the longer they stay in office.
