Mark & Kate got power back Wednesday morning, while Alan & Denise got it that same afternoon. There is still incredible flooding in northern New Jersey, due to the confluence of many rivers, but fortunately we have not been affected by that.
Jean and I spent most of yesterday driving through Pennsylvania, first to West Chester near Philly where we dropped off our new camper for some free maintenance after it got water during the hurricane. Then to Harrisburg where we picked up some supplies at a camp store. It was a long, tedious day.
We also have a busy weekend ahead. Besides my needing to finish the August issue of Visions of Paradise, I hope to write regular column for Tom Sadler’s The Reluctant Famulus and an article for the 300th issue of Chris Garcia’s Hugo-winning The Drink Tank.
Other plans including going to Frank & Marilyn’s house today for some gardening, a 60th birthday party tomorrow, and Sunday Mark & Kate are coming for a turkey dinner. We have had a turkey in the freezer for weeks, and since it partially defrosted during the power failure, I suggested we cook it. We are lucky that nothing in our freezers totally defrosted, thanks to Andy buying 5 huge bags of ice which we put in them the first night, but we still would like to use as much of the frozen food as possible soon.
