I am slowly feeling better, just in time to return to school tomorrow. I’m still fairly tired though, so we’ll see how that affects being on my feet five periods a day. Oh, well...

I did finish nearly all my chores the past two weeks, as well as reading 3 books which I really enjoyed. The best was Elmer Kelton’s The Time It Never Rained about ranching in Texas during the 1950s in the midst of a six-year drought.

Without doubt, the best time to go shopping is Saturday night. Usually that is when we do our food shopping, but last night we did some general shopping, and the stores were virtually empty. I guess people are too busy partying on Saturday nights to do essential chores, which is convenient for us.

I am not a big fan of watching football games on television, even playoffs, so while the rest of the country is seemingly getting psyched up for next month’s Super-Bowl, I use the time to read and write, although I might give up a few minutes to watch Bruce Springsteen perform at halftime. Last year I watched Tom Petty perform, which was the first halftime show I saw in years.

Jean and I had intended to go see a free movie last Tuesday night, which we did not do because we were both sick. However, there were so few movies that appeal to our admittedly restricted taste that I am not sure we would have gone anyway. Neither of us likes thrillers or screwball comedies, which account for the vast majority of movies. Frost Nixon looked interesting, but it was not at the local theater. Probably the only interesting movie playing was Devereaux, since both of us enjoy a good animation.
