A friend in Britain mentioned to me this week that he heard about the George Bush trial controversy in an American high school, but did not realize it was my high school until he read about it in my zine. I wonder how he would react if I told him that same teacher invited the socialist candidate for U.S. senator to speak to his Government class this week?
27 years ago Yankee catcher Thurman Munson died when he crashed his own plane. Today Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle crashed his plane into a Manhattan building. You have to wonder if it is safe for all these rich athletes to be flying around like that?
WFUV-FM is one of the finest local radio stations. It is a public radio station originating at Fordham University, and it plays a wide range of not-so-hard rock, folk, pop, some jazz and blues. This week they are playing albums selected by their listeners as “essential” listening. If I were to select my most essential albums, the list would include the likes of
• The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd
• Born to Run, by Bruce Springsteen
• To Our Children’s Children’s Children, by the Moody Blues
• Muswell Hillbillies, by the Kinks
• Man on the Line, by Chris De Burgh
Did I ever mention that anybody who enjoys reading this blog can find my magazine Vision of Paradise online at efanzines.com? That might be a bit more of my verbiage than you really want though.
