Some random musings:
> Isn’t it ironic that President Bush selected staunch Republican Tom Kean (and if you don’t believe the former New Jersey governor is a strong supporter of the president, read his bi-weekly dialogs with former Democratic governor Brendan Bush in the Newark Star-Ledger) to chair the 9/11 commission, only to have Kean expose the incompetence of the Bush administration? I think more startling revelations are due when the complete committee findings are released in July.
> School ended yesterday, and I’m already planning my activities for the next 11 weeks. They include lots of writing and editing, learning Statistics in time to teach it next fall, practice both guitar and drawing, and hopefully reading all the books I listed on my May 28th blog.
> While I don’t watch much sports on television, I enjoy reading about it in the newspapers (which is not surprising for a bookworm, eh Andy? ☺). I’m a big Phil Mickelson fan, probably starting years ago when he was the only left-handed professional golfer, but increasing over the years due to his humility, lack of ego and his overall friendliness, a rarity in professional golf and a welcome change to the aloofness of Tiger Woods. I was thrilled when he won the Masters Tournament early this year, and I look forward to his making a run at this weekend’s U.S. Open. (But don’t expect me to spend time watching it on tv, haha).
> I enjoy movies, but I rarely try to make time in my schedule for them due to my addiction to reading. During summer vacations I generally try to watch a few movies, so any recommendations you might have are appreciated. My niece Michelle has the first two Lord of the Rings movies, and although I have never read the books (which is practically heresy for such a dedicated fantasy and science fiction fan as myself, but I read the first “book” of the six in the trilogy nearly forty years ago, and never felt the urge to finish the series), I probably should see what all the shouting is about.
