Yesterday was the Math Dept annual Christmas party, and Jean and I were invited to it. My intent was to sneak in unobserved, so that I would not create a scene, so we arrived near the end of 8th period. But, as we were walking down the hallway to the Math Lab, my brother had his AP Calculus class, and they all saw me walk by. As soon as the bell rang, word got around that I was there, and I was inundated with students! Of course, it was very nice seeing them, and I was glad to spend much of my time there chatting with Jess, Nicole, Mandi, Vincent, Wesley, Christine, Emily, Gloria, Claudia, Charlene and Maryam (hopefully I did not forget anybody!).

Seeing the teachers again was great too, as well as hearing all the latest gossip about the school. If one rumor is true, there is light at the end of the tunnel, lol.

A friend asked me this morning on Facebook if seeing everybody made me want to go back. No! I also heard several horror stories about discipline and intrusive administrators, as well as how much work everybody is doing. While I miss spending time with students and friends, I am perfectly content to sit home and write write write. Of course, in five years when my last students graduate college and no longer have time to spend online, I might feel differently when I have nobody to chat with. But for now, everything’s cool.
