If you’re a college basketball fan, there is nothing sweeter than this week's Big East Tournament. I enjoy it so long as my alma mater Seton Hall is playing, but they are big underdogs tonight against Marquette, a game which starts around my bedtime, so I doubt I’ll be watching much basketball this week.
Friday is Pi Day. I wonder if I can convince the school weather girl to wave a “pi on a stick” during her weather broadcast? ☺
I wrote my 100th student recommendation of the year tonight, a personal all-time record! *yee-hah!*
It’s a lot easier writing college recommendations for my students than writing scholarship recommendations, which I am doing now, because often they are competing against each other for the scholarship, so my letter might actually make a difference as to which student wins it. That’s a scary responsibility.
Not surprisingly, many of my seniors plan to attend Parsippany South next year, better known as Rutgers University. A few have also gotten accepted to TCNJ, and one is thinking about going to Seton Hall!
I like to believe the Math Lab is one big, happy family, but sometimes I think I’m deluding myself. If my students did not need math help, or a quiet place to work, hardly anybody would come visit me there.
Another unethical politician bit the dust today, as the governor of New York resigned his position. It was only a few years ago that the governor of New Jersey resigned. I used to joke that the very act of running for political office made a candidate unqualified for the office, but that might not be as much of a joke as it once seemed.
