This past July Jean and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Supposedly time flies when you're having fun, and that is certainly true in our case. When we got married, Jean's father warned us that the next 50 years would fly by so fast we would have no idea where all the time went. At the time we nodded our heads in agreement, but we really had no frame of reference for 50 years. After all, we were both still in our 20s! Now I understand exactly what he meant, since my memories of the past 25 years are one fast-forward blur:
buy a house...teach at par hills...jean teach at randolph...andy is born...mark is born...teach at par h.s...move to Budd Lake...boys start elementary school...move to our current house...Misty... Tiger...boys start middle school...my "daughter"...Visions of Paradise...many pleasant hours spent in the math lab with my students...Who Shaped Science Fiction?...boys start high school... Nanking Conference and book...andy's cross-country...mark's soccer...boys start college...25 years!
We decided we should do something to mark the occasion, but nothing too extravagant, since that is not our style. So this weekend we are spending two days in Lancaster,PA, eating and shopping and relaxing. I spent the past 2 1/2 days of this four-day Teachers' Convention weeking doing all my schoolwork, so nothing is hanging over my head when we return tomorrow. Our neighbor will bring Misty and Tiger in tonight, and feed them in the morning.
See ya...
