For any worthwhile teacher the true joy of teaching is the students. I am fortunate enough to have a large “math lab” where many of my students congregate before and after school so, in addition to tutoring them, I have ample opportunity to chat with them and, when necessary, advise or counsel them.

A special, though rarer joy though is when former students return to the “math lab” for a visit. This past week most college students were on vacation, so I had visits from Kevin, Meghan, Leslie, Tanya, Xi and Sneha. Unfortunately they were shorter visits than I would have liked–both afternoons I had important meetings to go to–but it was still nice seeing them, if briefly, and knowing they still think about their old teacher occasionally.

If I ever write my teaching memoirs, the appropriate title for it would be ALL MY CHILDREN! ☺
