Yesterday was our 29th wedding anniversary, and it is amazing how quickly time flies by. It seems like only a few years ago we got married, but now Mark is planning his own wedding for next summer. Here are two scary thoughts:

• Alan commented recently that he and I are now the oldest generation in our families; ouch!
• If I project 29 years forward, the length of our married life, Jean and I will be the same age that Ceil is right now!

For most of my life summers were always joyous because I was able to write and read without any interruption. For some reason this summer I miss having the daily human contact that I had in school everyday. Occasionally somebody will chat with me online, usually Sneha, Marwa, or Tony, but for the first time in my life I actually need people more than I ever did before. What does this mean for when I retire eventually? Sitting home alone is no longer as desirable an option as it was a few years ago.

Currently Reading: I really loved Iain M. Banks’ Culture novel Look to Windward, so now I am reading Use of Weapons, another novel in the same series. It’s too soon to have an opinion though.

Currently Listening: The Strawbs are one of my very favorite bands, their music veering between folk-rock and progressive-rock. Deja Fou is a recent album which at times rises to the level of their early-to-mid 70s highlights.
