I am fairly competitive, particularly enjoying “trivia” games such as Jeopardy! I actually tried out for the show during grad school, and I answered every question correctly in the pre-screening, but I was much too introverted back then and they considered me unsuitable for television. While I am not particularly strong at word games, when Marwa invited me to play Scrabble at Facebook, I accepted eagerly. Win or lose, this should be fun. (And thanks to Marwa for thinking of me; she is probably the only friend who makes being on Facebook worthwhile :))
The Dark Knight was sold out last night, and since we were using our Optimum Online free card we were not able to reserve tickets ahead of time. Instead we saw Wall-E which was a really cute love story about two robots several hundreds of years in the future as well as a cautionary tale about environmental abuse and self-indulgence. I recommend it.
While I wait to see The Dark Knight, I will reread The Killing Joke, which is Alan Moore’s quintessential Joker story, the one which the director required Heath Ledger read in order to prepare him for his role as the Joker. Anybody who enjoyed The Dark Knight should definitely get a copy of that superb graphic novel. You might not realize it, but Batman comics more resemble Batman Begins and The Dark Knight that any other movie versions in the past. Batman: the Animated Series was fairly faithful too.
