Happy New Year everybody! 2007 was mostly a good year, certainly better than the two previous years were for my entire family. I do not make New Year’s Resolutions, since they are generally exercises in futility, but there are a few things I would like to do this year:
• Buy less books, and try to read more of the unread orphans sitting on my bookshelves;
• Enjoy this year’s seniors before they all graduate. This is the most special class I have had in a dozen years, and since my teaching career is becoming increasingly short, I am unlikely to have this much enjoyment in the Math Lab again;
• Exercise more, stress less.
We started the New Year the same way as last year, going to First Night Morris with Kathy and Dave. Highlights were Nai Ni Chen Dance Company, whom we saw last year too, although this year they did more music than dancing; The Dazzling Mills Family, who were a father and two children juggling with a lot of humor thrown in; the Robert Murdoch Band, which played rock ‘n’ roll from the 60s, finishing with side two of Abbey Road. Overall, it was a pleasant evening.
