Ah, Thanksgiving weekend! A time for spending time with the family, eating well and endlessly, resting and relaxing while catching up on schoolwork and other chores, and–hopefully–a chance to reflect about all the good things in life which I can be thankful for. And, quite honestly, I have a lot to be thankful for: my family, our health, our comfortable lives, my enjoyable job, my fabulous students, and my personal pleasures, particularly reading and writing. Now if only this situation continues for a few millennia... ☺
Inbetween everything else I do this weekend, I am listening to Simon & Garfunkel’s three-cd boxed set Old Friends, which contains virtually every important song they ever recorded. What a great duo they were. I am also reading M. John Harrison’s acclaimed novel Light, and Denny O’Neil & Neal Adams’ issues of Green Lantern-Green Arrow comics from the early 1970s, one of the two highlights of comics that I have ever read (the other being Alan Moore’s Watchmen). Sometimes I feel like I have never grown up at all.
